People Live by Different Standards

Deuteronomy 14

Moses remind them that they are a holy people, chosen by God and a peculiar people (vs.2). Because of this, they were to avoid eating certain things (vs.3-21), they were to offer the first portion to God and do it in a certain place (vs.22-26) and they were to take care of God’s servants (vs.27-29).

We are not the children of Israel and do not abide by the Levitacal law (we can eat bacon praise the Lord). But we are a holy people, chosen by God and a peculiar people (1 Peter 2:9). And God does want us to live by different standards than the world has. The world has their system, their rules and ways of behavior, but a child of God should use God’s Word as both their faith and practice for life.
